The Police Department has formal procedures for investigating your complaint. These procedures ensure fairness and protect the rights of both citizens and police officers. All complaints against police officers are thoroughly investigated. You will be advised in writing of the outcome of the investigation. Your complaint will be assigned to a superior officer or an investigator who works within the Administrative Office of the Chief of Police depending on the nature of the complaint. The Deputy Chief of Police manages all investigations referred to the Department’s Internal Affairs and Professional Responsibility section. In any case a thorough and objective investigation will be conducted and supervised by an impartial investigator.
