DELAND POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of DeLand PAL is to provide quality athletic and educational activities for at-risk children in the greater DeLand area at low or no cost to the participant. PAL is based on the strong belief that youth sports programs help instill positive social and moral value as well as discipline and contribute significantly to the reduction of juvenile delinquency.
ABOUT DPAL
DPAL is a unique, non-profit joint venture between the DeLand Police Department and the Greater DeLand area community. We provide young people with positive role models, help them build self-esteem and give them a safe place for activities. The organization is overseen by a PAL Director and group of volunteers serving as a Board of Directors.
ACTIVITIES
Based out of the Nathaniel E. Jackson Gymnasium at 422 South Delaware Avenue, DeLand PAL offers wrestling, basketball, photography, cooking, weight training, MMA, boxing, trail riding, and bowling.
Participants are also involved in summer day camp and educational field trips throughout the year. During the school year, the House Next Door offers a free Homework Club to help children in the classroom.
