The Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association aims to honor DeLand police officers past and present by installing a memorial statue that would stand in the front of the police department. It would serve as a symbol of thanks from the community for the police service.
“This statue will serve as a symbol of gratitude to all DeLand police officers past and present who have dedicated their lives to protecting our community. It will go hand-in-hand with a project by a local Boy Scout, TJ Sistrunk, who is dedicating his Eagle Scout Project to building a memorial wall along with beautifying the patio area in front of our police department.”

OUR MISSION
You are three years old, and you have wandered off from your house. Four blocks away, your dad is frantically searching for you. He calls the police and an officer answers and reports they have found a young girl, and she is safe. Our police look out for our safety and when necessary, run toward danger to protect us. Our statue will stand watch over our community and remind us of: Officers who daily and nightly serve to protect us. Officers who serve as role models for youth, teaching fair play, truth, compassion, self-worth and honor. Officers who have spent a lifetime of work and service making our community a better place. Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us. As a community, let’s join together and erect a statue to stand watch as a daily reminder of the importance of our policemen and women who stand for us to protect and serve.
