Welcome to DPD! Meet our four new officers

The DeLand Police Department is happy to welcome four new officers who are currently training to protect and serve the community of DeLand.

Officer Rave Fragé and Officer Payton Loveless were sworn in January 31, 2023, and introduced at DeLand City Commission Chambers February 6, 2023.

Jashual Aymat was sworn in February 13, 2023, and introduced to city commissioners February, 20, 2023. Officer Edwardo Velez was sworn in January 17, 2023.

Below is more information about each: 

Officer Rave Fragé

Rave Fragé was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and moved to the United States as a toddler, where his family eventually settled down in DeLand. He has an associate degree from Daytona State College and a BS Degree in Health Science from Stetson University.

Rave enjoys staying active in many ways including weightlifting, rock-climbing and more recently jiu-jitsu. He also enjoys spending time with his family, girlfriend and friends. Rave has many interest including sports cars, video games and of late firearms and is always ready to try new things. Rave is looking forward to trying to help his city to the best of his ability.

Officer Payton Loveless

Payton Loveless is originally from Rochester, NY, but moved to DeLand in January 2022. He attended SUNY The College at Brockport where he worked toward a Criminal Justice Degree. During college, he joined the United States Army National Guard to become a Military Police Officer. He plans to now focus on finishing his degree as soon as he can.

An internship with the Rochester Police Department is what sparked his interest in becoming a police officer. He has many hobbies including singing and playing music, watching movies, skiing, football, trading card games, and spending time with his friends, family, and his girlfriend. He has a black lab named Frank and he and his girlfriend recently got a dachshund puppy who they named Rambo. 

Officer Jashual Aymat

Jashual Aymat attended and graduated from University High School in Orange City, Florida. He is a husband and father to two young children, ages 4 and 2. During his free time he enjoys working on cars. Jashual decided to follow in his family’s footsteps and become a police officer.

Officer Edwardo Velez

Edwardo Velez is from Guanica, Puerto Rico. He moved to Florida four years ago. Edwardo has an associate degree in criminal justice. He has been with his wife for 14 years and married for 12 years. During his free time, he enjoys riding motorcycles.
