Volusia Sheriff's Department - Scam Alert
From our friends at the Volusia County Sheriff's Office- SCAM ALERT
Victims are reporting they've received scam calls from someone pretending to be a Volusia Sheriff's deputy. The "deputy" claims to be a "Deputy Walker" who tells the victim there's an arrest warrant out for them unless they pay thousands of dollars in gift cards.
In some cases, the scammer leaves a message for a victim telling them to call back at (386) 259-7687. The victim calls back and hears the message: "You have reached the Volusia County Sheriff's Office."
*** DON'T FALL FOR IT! This is a scam and can cost you thousands of dollars if you're not cautious.
The Volusia Sheriff's Office, and any other agency with integrity, doesn't call people and threaten them for payment of any kind. That's extortion and we don't operate that way. Not for missed jury duty, library book fines, or a warrant.
If you think you're a victim of a scam, call our non-emergency number to report it: (386) 248-1777. Or call 911 in an emergency.
If you get such a scam call, be suspicious. Hang up!
