Two people were hospitalized after a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck early Wednesday morning.
Police and fire units responded at 6:13 a.m. Wednesday to the intersection North Woodland Boulevard and Palm Street. A preliminary investigation found that a pickup truck traveling west from Palm Street was attempting to turn left (southbound) onto Woodland Boulevard when a white Kawasaki motorcycle traveling northbound crashed into the truck.
The motorcyclist, a 26-year-old male, was airlifted via Volusia Sheriff's Office Air 1 helicopter to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. A passenger in the rear of the pickup was also transported via ambulance to Halifax Health.
Both suffered what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
