Severe Strom Threat for Greater DeLand Area (All Central Florida Counties)
Event Overview: A line of showers and storms ahead of a strong cold will move through the area today. The line itself will move gradually southeast through the area, with storms moving quickly toward the east-northeast at 35 to 40 mph across east central Florida and offshore. Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will occur across the area today with this line, mainly from late morning through early evening. While the threat for strong to severe storms will exist across all of east central Florida today, the greatest potential for any severe storms will be across Lake, Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, and Brevard counties.
Severe Weather Potential: Impacts:
● Strong to locally damaging wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph
● A brief tornado or two
● Frequent lightning strikes
● Locally heavy rainfall up to 1 to 2 inches
● Small hail (less than an inch)
