Following a months-long investigation, DeLand Police made a significant drug bust at a residence on West Minnesota Avenue resulting in charges for eight individuals.
An investigation was launched in November 2024 after residents voiced their concerns about the home at 326 West Minnesota Avenue being a location for suspected drug activity. As authorities were getting close to obtaining a search warrant on the home, police responded to a stabbing in North DeLand. As that investigation was unfolding, detectives received a tip that a man named “Myron” was distributing large amounts of methamphetamine to individuals. Detectives were able to trace that information to the West Minnesota home.
During a surveillance operation the following day, officers intercepted a vehicle that had briefly stopped at the residence. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered a sunglasses case in the hood containing methamphetamine. Three individuals were arrested, including Cody Komroski, the victim in Tuesday's stabbing.
Following the stop, DeLand Police, with the assistance of the West Volusia Narcotics Task Force and FBI Safe Streets Task Force, obtained and executed a search warrant for the home. As authorities approached the home, multiple subjects fled but were apprehended.
Inside the residence, officers recovered fentanyl, heroin, oxycodone, methamphetamine and more than a half dozen firearms. Narcotics were also recovered outside behind the home and a surveillance system was found mounted in trees, tents and sheds on the property.
“This operation is a direct result of our commitment to keeping our neighborhoods safe and responding to community concerns,” said Captain Prurince Dice. “We will continue to work diligently to remove dangerous drugs from our streets and hold those responsible accountable.”
