The DeLand Police Department responded to a major crash on State Road 15A Monday afternoon that sent two people to the hospital.
At approximately 2:49 p.m., an SUV was traveling southbound on SR-15A toward the intersection of South Clara Avenue and West Taylor Road.
As the SUV was traveling southbound, a Toyota passenger car exited the Hillcrest Plaza driveway in an attempt to make a left hand turn and travel northbound on South SR15A.
The SUV, unable to stop, struck the front driver’s side of the Toyota causing major damage to the car.
The driver of the Toyota was airlifted to Central Florida Regional Hospital and the passenger was taken by EVAC to Central Florida Regional Hospital where they are currently listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Lincoln did not report any injuries while on scene.
The names of the occupants of the Toyota have not been released at this time pending the notification of the next of kin.
