DPD Employee Spotlight Officer Dante Leary

DeLand Police Department Employee Spotlight - Officer Dante Leary from our Patrol Division

  1. What made you want to become a Police Officer? I always wanted to be a Police Officer from childhood due to the lack of representation of the minority population in the career field. Also, due to the ability to be of service to the community on a daily basis every time you put the uniform on. Being a Police Officer is the most noble profession there is and I am proud to say I am a part of the change.
  2. What is your favorite thing about DPD? My favorite thing about DPD is the comradery amongst colleagues being that it is a smaller agency. You actually get to know one another and the individuals you are serving alongside with. You are not just a number, you are an intricate part in this agency.
  3. What is your favorite food and why? My favorite foods are salmon and baked chicken. These are my favorite because my mom made it for me all of the time growing up and she taught me how to make it how myself when grew older. Also, it is my favorite because it reminds of home.
  4. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not on the job? My favorite thing to do while not on the job is to relax first and foremost. Secondly, is to cook different meals, play with my dog, and hang out with friends.
