DeLand Police Youth Honor Guard at Memorial Day Ceremony

On Saturday, May 29th, the DeLand Police Youth Cadet Honor Guards honored fallen veterans for Memorial Day at the Hollywood Cemetery in Orange City.

The Honor Guards presented the Colors and then did an honorary flag fold for those that served and died while serving our country. Nine area Girl Scout Troops from the Monarch Group were in attendance and put flags on 556 veteran's graves, including 7 Purple Heart recipients at this cemetery.

It was truly an Honor to be involved with the community honoring our military heroes. The DPD Youth Cadet Honor Guard Units is made up of youth from the Youth Cadet Program, which meets every Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the DeLand Police Department. The program is open to Youths who are in grades 6th to 12th and is a part of the West Volusia Police Athletic Program (P.A.L,).
