REF:  Death Investigation (831 N. Arlington)

On Thursday September 26, 2019, Deland Police Officers responded to 831 N. Arlington Avenue in reference to a complaint of a suspicious odor possibly coming from the residence.  When officers arrived, they discovered an elderly male conscious and breathing but appeared to be incoherent.  Officers also discovered an elderly female lying on the floor deceased.  DPD Criminal Investigations Division was contacted to conduct a death investigation.  While conducting the investigation, it appeared that the elderly female had been deceased for more than 24 hours.  At this time, there does not appear to be any signs of foul play and an autopsy will be administered to determine the cause of death.  The elderly man was transported to the hospital where he remains.  This case is still an ongoing investigation.  Further information will be released once the cause of death is determined. The name of the deceased has not been released as the next of kin has not been notified.
