DeLand PD Welcomes Another New K-9 in 2022
The DeLand Police Department has welcomed a second new K-9 in 2022.
K-9 Zoie is a 13-month-old German Shephard that was born on Valentine's Day in Slovakia. Zoie is paired with Officer Dylan Scott as her new handler. Officer Scott was born and raised in Volusia County, FL. After high school, he joined the US Army where he served as a Military Police Officer for 5 years before being employed by the DeLand Police Department in February of 2019. Officer Scott has been assigned to the Patrol Operations Division for the last 3 years and has also been a Field Training Officer. Officer Scott enjoys going to the beach, surfing, and exercising during his time off.
Zoie is expected to complete all of her training by the end of 2022. Zoie will be the third K-9 in the DeLand Police Department K-9 Unit, joining K-9 Lancelot and K-9 Midnight who are both Labrador Retrievers. Zoie will assist the department with narcotics detection, search and rescue of missing persons, suspect apprehension, and more.
