DeLand PD offering safe place for residents to drop off cardboard boxes during holiday season

The DeLand Police Department is partnering with the city's waste hauler, GFL Environmental Services, to provide a spot for residents to dispose of cardboard boxes during the holiday season.

Operation Safe Disposal offers citizens a safe alternative to disposing of cardboard boxes for TVs, computer gaming systems, sound systems, or other valuables. By providing separate waste containers, citizens do not have to place such items curbside for potential burglars to see in neighborhoods.

From Monday, December 20 through Wednesday, December 29, residents will be able to find a container at the drop off location for Operation Safe Disposal in the east side parking lot of the DeLand Police Department, located at 219 West Howry Avenue.

No Christmas trees, household garbage, yard waste or other such items should be placed in the container.
