Chaplain Reggie May Awarded Excellence in Chaplaincy Award by the International Conference of Police Chaplains

DeLand Police Department Chaplain Reggie May was awarded the John A. Price Excellency in Chaplaincy Award by the International Conference of Police Chaplains on July 21, 2022. Chaplain May was presented with the award at the ICPC Annual Training Seminar held in Orlando, Florida.

Established in 1984, this award was named in honor of the late Chaplain John A. (Jack) Price, Albuquerque Police Department (NM). A minimum of 2 awards (equal consideration given regardless of agency size) are presented at the Annual Training Seminar to recognize and honor law enforcement chaplaincy work at the local level.

Chaplain Reggie May has served the DeLand Police Department since April 2002. He has been a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains since 2004 and currently serves on the Education Committee. He was also on the Host Committee for the 2022 Annual Training Seminar in Orlando.

Chief Umberger stated, “Chaplain Reggie May serves the members of the DeLand Police Department and the community as a whole with outstanding chaplaincy services.  Under his leadership, we now have three working chaplains who minister to our employees and residents when they need spiritual guidance and support through tragic and difficult circumstances. His service to our department for the last 20 years is something we truly cherish and appreciate.”
