On Thursday, May 29, 2025, at approximately 8:53 a.m., officers with the DeLand Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Woodland Boulevard and Volusia Avenue.

According to the preliminary investigation, a white Nissan van, occupied by a single male driver, was traveling northbound on South Woodland Boulevard. At the same time, a green Mitsubishi convertible, also driven by a single male occupant, was heading southbound on the same roadway.

Both vehicles entered the intersection and collided head-on.

The driver of the Nissan van was transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mitsubishi convertible, identified as Sean Heyne, 37, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

This crash remains under active investigation.
