Four arrested in armed robbery; one suspect apprehended after 12 hour standoff
(DeLand, FL) - Four people have been arrested in connection to an armed robbery including one suspect who engaged in a 12-hour standoff with law enforcement.
Cameron Brown, 19, Codey Brown, 23, Ryan Mackey, 21, and a 16-year-old juvenile, identified as Eric Lutz, were charged in a robbery that occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Monday at the Intermodal Bus Transit facility at 425 South Woodland Boulevard.
The victims, identified as John Burnette and Amanda Gibson, told police they were waiting for their bus when they were approached by four males who confronted them. One of the males, later identified as Cameron Brown, implied to the victims that he had a weapon and threatened to shoot the victims. The four males got away with items from a backpack and fled the scene in a silver Chrysler 200.
Roughly 20 minutes later, police were able to get a partial tag on the vehicle and located it to 1300 Fatio Road. As authorities attempted to tow the suspect vehicle, three of the suspects came outside of the home and were taken into custody.
But Cameron Brown remained inside the home and threatened violence if law enforcement entered the residence, despite attempts by family members and negotiators to persuade him to surrender peacefully.
After obtaining an arrest and search warrant, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office SWAT team and DeLand Police entered the home and were able to find Cameron Brown hiding in a crawl space at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was taken into custody without incident.
DeLand Police later searched the home and found two firearms in one of the bathrooms. Authorities also discovered marijuana and other contraband items in the residence.
Cameron Brown is charged with armed robbery while the others were charged with principle to armed robbery.
