DeLand PD partnering with Daytona Tortugas for K-9 unit fundraiser
(DeLand, FL) – The DeLand Police Department and Daytona Tortugas are partnering together to raise funds for the department’s K-9 Unit.
People are invited to bring their dogs to the ballpark on Wednesday, May 22, as the Tortugas will hold a “Bark in the Park Night” to raise funds for the DeLand Police Department's K-9 unit. The funds will go toward a training facility to be used by the city’s K-9 Unit, among other things. The agency's K-9 Unit consists of four dogs, each paired with a handler.
Tickets for the game are $8. For every ticket purchased for the game, $3 will be donated to the DeLand Police Department. For every pup pass purchased, a $1 donation will go to the DeLand Police Department. People may also add on a discounted meal voucher for $5.
As a part of the night's festivities, there will also be an on-field K-9 demonstration prior to the game.
“I’d like to thank the Daytona Tortugas organization for helping our K-9 unit,” said Police Chief Jason Umberger. “These funds will go toward ensuring we have the tools necessary to train our K-9s and help keep the streets of DeLand safe for residents and visitors.”
The deadline to purchase tickets is May 20.
