On December 21st, 2019 at approx. 1:00 am, Deland Officers were conducting a routine patrol of a high crime area when they spotted a the suspect acting suspiciously. When he noticed officers he attempted to go the opposite direction to avoid contact with them. The officers attempted to stop him when he took off running, while officers gave several commands to stop the suspected continued to run. Officers were eventually able to catch up to the suspect and detain him for further questioning. During their investigation they located a stolen firearm out of Brevard county on his person. Also the suspect was convicted felon who is not be in possession of a firearm, he had the firearm concealed in his waistband and was on probation. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail with out incident.
